UNDERWATER PASSIVE ACOUSTIC RECORDERS
We work with you to identify the best instrument for your application, whether it is recording ambient sound on a coral reef or the intense sounds from underwater construction.
Each recorder has a hydrophone for capturing underwater sounds as electrical signals and a datalogger that stores the sounds on flash memory.
noise monitoring from wind turbines, pile driving, seismic surveys
marine mammal monitoring
fish vocalization
ocean soundscapes
SNAP
The Snap underwater acoustic recorder harnesses over 20 years of experience in marine bioacoustics to deliver the world's easiest to configure underwater acoustic datalogger. The Snap was designed to be setup without a computer and records sounds directly as wav files. The Snap is perfect if you are just getting started with bioacoustics or want to up your game to deploy large arrays of recorders. The Snap also travels well since it contains no lithium batteries or liquids. Also available in titanium for full ocean depth recordings!
LS1 and LS2 Family of Recorders
The LS1 and LS2 (two channel) build on the simplicity of the Snap, with 4 - 8 times the battery capacity. The LS2 is a stereo recorder with two hydrophones.
The LS1X and LS2X allow longer deployments by doubling the battery capacity.
LHI-CAL Calibration Tool
The LHI-CAL is a Norsonic sound calibrator with a coupler designed for use with HTI-96-min hydrophones. The sound calibrator generates calibration-quality tones at 250 Hz and 1000 Hz at two sound levels. This system allows rapid collection of calibration signals prior to and after deployments of the Snap and LS1 acoustic dataloggers.
